Abstract:

In the spring of 2010, a project was proposed with the Windy Pine property on Lake Kushog in Halliburton to address the issue of water filtration for providing safe drinking water . Owned by the Canadian studies department at Trent University, the center provides facilities for conferences, meetings, guest use and use as a research area. The project was developed as a response to the need for safe drinking water on the property, which currently must be brought in from outside sources. In order to improve the sustainability and long-term usability of the property, this project will look at different water filtration options, provide an analysis of costs associated with a new system, and provide recommendations on long-term sustainability plans.
